by: Amanda Dills

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  We are back again this Tuesday with a new “Tuesday 2-Minute Tune Up,” and this week, you are going to learn how to use filters in your Canvas Gradebook.  (Plus a quick trick to make scrolling in the gradebook easier, even without filters!)

Click the image below to watch the video, or keep scrolling for some written directions and screenshots:

Using Gradebook Filters

Bonus Tip: Hold the “Shift” key while in the Canvas Gradebook to scroll horizontally!

  • Go to the “View” menu, select “Filters,” and turn on any filters that would be helpful in your course. TIP: Selecting “sections” allows you to limit the number of students/rows you see in the gradebook; selecting “Assignment Groups” or “Modules” allows you to limit the number of assignments or columns you see at any one time.

⭐ TIP: Selecting “sections” allows you to limit the number of students/rows you see in the gradebook; selecting “Assignment Groups” or “Modules” allows you to limit the number of assignments or columns you see at any one time.

  • Once you have enabled the filters, use the drop down menus to select the specific Section, Group, or Module you want to view.

If you need help setting up any of these areas (Sections, Assignment Groups, or Modules) to maximize this gradebook feature, please let me know! I would love to help you streamline your Canvas Gradebook!
