T2MTU: Remove Card from Canvas Dashboard

Greetings!
This message marks the start of a series I’m going to send out every week this fall called the “Tuesday 2-Minute Tune Up” (make sure to watch the video below for the jingle, lol). Each Tuesday, I’ll be sending out a short tutorial for something you can do in a couple of minutes to help improve your digital teaching experience.
This week, I’m showing you an easy way to remove course cards/thumbnails that you no longer want to see from your Canvas Dashboard. (Shout out to Jennifer Sullivan-Ferree who actually taught me how to do this last week!) This easy step can help simplify your dashboard so that only the courses you need daily access to appear front and center. And, as a bonus, you can also see how to re-organize these cards so that they appear on the Dashboard in any order that you want.
Click the image below to watch the video, or keep scrolling for some written directions and screenshots:
One Easy Way to Remove a Course Card from your Canvas Dashboard:
- From your Canvas Dashboard, click on the 3-dot button in the upper right hand corner of a Course Card that you’d like to remove.
- Click the “Move” tab.
- (Notice that you also have the option to rearrange your Course Cards from this tab.) Click “Unfavorite.”
- Canvas will ask you to confirm this step, and also let you know that you can get this course back by going to the Courses link on the far left hand side of your course, and then selecting View All Courses. Click Submit to complete the process.
One thing to note – this will NOT remove your course from your students’ dashboards. If you need help with that for one or more of your courses please let me know!
That’s it for today’s Tuesday 2-Minute Tune Up – what do you think of this format? Any tips you’d like to share or any specific questions you’d like to see covered in future weeks???
