In today’s Tuesday 2-Minute Tune-up, we will show you how to move the Canvas Total Grade Column to the front (or back) of your Gradebook table.
Click on the video tutorial below to play, or scroll below the video for written directions.
Positioning the Canvas Gradebook “Total” Column
By default, the Total column in your Canvas Gradebook is on the far right-hand side of the Gradebook table.
Scroll to the far right to find this column, then hover your mouse in the column heading until a 3-dot menu button appears.

Clicking on that 3-dot icon will pull up a menu that will let you move the Total column to the Front or End of the Gradebook, depending on where that column is currently located. (You can also click and drag that column if you want to move it somewhere in the middle of the Gradebook.)
You can also use this menu to sort the students in your Gradebook by total grade, either from Low to High or High to Low.

Overall, the Canvas Gradebook is powerful and can be customized to work with a variety of grading systems and styles. But it is also can be unintuitive. Please do not hesitate to reach out to ID3 for any questions or updates you would like to make to your Canvas Gradebook!
