T2MTU: Concluding Students

If you use the same Canvas course over multiple terms, you know that the list of students inside that course can get cumbersome quickly. Today’s Tuesday 2-Minute Tune Up Video shows you how to CONCLUDE students out of your Canvas course.
“Concluding” is a process you might use in Canvas in several different circumstances:
- Teachers who use the same course shell over multiple terms, or for self-paced learners, may need to conclude students who have finished that specific course.
- If a student drops your course, Prodigy will not remove them Canvas; you will need to conclude the student to remove them from your classlist and gradebook.

Concluding (Removing) a Student from a Canvas Course (Gradebook):
⭐NOTE: If you would like to conclude (or change the status of) a whole section/term of students at once, contact your ID3 Specialist. We can do this for you quickly on the “Section” level. 😊
- Go to the People tab of your course.

- Click on the name of the student you wish to Conclude. Then click on their name AGAIN in the little pop up window that appears.

- Scroll down to the “Memberships” area.
⭐NOTE: If you see the word RESTORE in this area, click it first.
- Then click Conclude. Canvas will ask you to confirm this; click OK.

- If you return to the People (or Grades) tab, you will see the student is no longer on your course list; you have also removed the course card from the student’s Canvas dashboard.
⭐BONUS: To restore any concluded students (or just see a list of students who have completed the course), click on the 3-dot menu in the upper right hand corner of your people tab, and select “View Prior Enrollments.” From here you can Restore any previously-concluded students.

(Remember: if you want to bulk-conclude all the students from a section or term, contact your ID3 specialist. 😊)
