T2MTU: Canvas Page Revision History

January 24, 2023
Oh no! You’ve spent hours perfecting a page in your Canvas course, only to accidentally delete it or mess up its formatting. Ctrl-Z can’t help you if the changes have auto-saved… so what do you do?
Don’t worry — Canvas has a failsafe built in for this kind of thing! It’s called “Revision History,” and it’s available for individual Pages within Canvas.
To View Page History & Revert Recent Edits
Step 1: Open the page you want to revert (in View Mode, not in Edit mode).
Step 2: Click on the 3-dot “Snowman” menu in the upper right hand corner of the page, and select “View Page History.”
Step 3: Click through the “Revision History” versions of the page in question (links will be either on the right hand side or bottom of the page).
Step 4: Click “Restore this Version” for whichever version of the page you wish to revert to, and then click “Restore” to confirm your choice.
The version you selected will now be the active version of that page; but you will still be able to access or revert to any previous updates.
(If you have any other questions, or need help accessing previous versions of your Modules or Assignments page, please contact ID3.)
