Publish or Unpublish a Course
Publishing or Un-publishing a course changes whether or not students will be able to see – and access – the course from their dashboard. By default, all Francis Tuttle Canvas courses are Unpublished, and will need to be published in order for students to access.
To publish from the Canvas dashboard:
- Select Dashboard from your global navigation menu (on the left side of the screen in Canvas). Published courses will appear on the Dashboard first, followed by unpublished courses.
- Scroll down to find the card/tile for the course you want to publish. Click on the Publish button displaying on that card.
To publish from within a course:
- Navigate to your course using the Dashboard, or by selecting Courses and then, All Courses in your global navigation menu.
- From the home page of your course you will see a Course Status menu on the right sidebar. Select the Publish button.
- The Course Status will change to say Published. If you need to unpublish your course, click the Unpublish button in the sidebar. Once your course contains a graded submission, the course status will no longer display in the sidebar and you will no longer be able to unpublish your course.

(Note: If a student is unable to see a published course, there are a few possible causes. Contact ID3 for additional help if needed..)
