Canvas Dashboard (Course Access)
When accessing courses, users generally use their Dashboard or the Courses menu.
Dashboard
- The Dashboard is typically the first screen you see when you log into Canvas. It displays courses in which you are enrolled as cards, or tiles, with Published courses showing at the top of the screen and Unpublished courses at the bottom. (Note: Students will only see Published courses on their Dashboards.)
2. The menu icon at the upper right of your Dashboard screen, allows you to select different views for your Dashboard, but these are geared more toward student use.
3. The Dashboard only displays courses that have been marked as favorites under the Courses menu.
The Courses Menu
- The courses menu allows teachers to view and access all of their courses. Clicking on Courses will display the Courses quick-view tray, which includes links to all courses marked as favorites
2. Click on All Courses at the bottom of the tray to open the All Courses screen. To the left of each course is a Favorites (star) icon. Courses marked as favorites will appear on your dashboard. Click on the star to select/deselect a course.
3. Selecting any of the course names will open that course. Note that some of your courses may be listed toward the bottom under Past Enrollments. These are courses which no longer contain active sections (past the section end date).
